It really is lame to have a blog and never use it.
I always vowed that my blog/s would not reduce themselves into "I was here" headstones to digital deathbeds...
A lot of people use Facebook, Twitter, etc. to blog their lives but I'm old school and I will do my best to revive (again) this blog. Hopefully, if for no-one else, my kids will read this one day and laugh at the good times and cry at the sad times... or cringe at the embarrassing pictures :)
The stale state of this blog is a poor effort, indeed, Bryan... poor effort.

Brief catch-up (AKA castration times)
Hi everyone (uh, I mean, mom... and that guy who stumbled on this site by accident)
Okay, so I'm back from Mozambique - what an amazing experience!! I thought I'd die, but thankfully I held out until Thursday morning before I started to contract Moz-lung (it's not that well known, but it started to spread like crazy in our team of 34). I've been out of action for about a week - still coughing now even - but life is looking good.
Will catch up on the 24 voice messages I have, and get things in order (and get used to work again, and this awful commercialised capitalist society we live in), and then try to post more information.
In brief:
Ciao for now!

Will catch up on the 24 voice messages I have, and get things in order (and get used to work again, and this awful commercialised capitalist society we live in), and then try to post more information.
In brief:
- Mozambique was awesome
- I had a very busy Sunday night at church - counted money (very low turnout on the finances side), prepared burgers (we did a special cheese & pineapple deal this week), served coffee (we did a special hot chocolate and marshmallows deal this week), and gave a testimony in the sermon (I should be in line for a St.'hood ...)
- Speaking of St.'hood - check out http://brattex.blogspot.com/2009/07/stefan-terblanche_16.html for the antics that a bunch of guys got up to in Mozambique. It was inevitable that we'd talk about sport, and it was inevitable that I'd bring up Stefan Terblanche, and it was madness how everyone got involved in the conversation and we came up with our very own meme! Check it out! (Rumour has it that Stefan himself will view the page soon; in the meanwhile the Sharks players are ragging him about it or something)
- My little Max puppy (his full name is Texas Maximillion the Third; based on him being Tex, and me being Brat, so it's Brat+Tex, and his nickname is Max, and he's my third dog) is having his balls cut off at the tender age of 9 and a half! I feel so guilty and so awful, but he's had a good innings. I guess now he'll just be using his pillow to sleep on in future :-/
Ciao for now!

My name's BrYan, and I'm a good listener
Today is the day I finally heed the advice of several doctors and go and get the wax cleaned out of my ears.
Apparently my hearing is poor because I've got excess wax build-up in my ears and that's why I don't often seem to listen and do what I'm told (marriage!).
I used to think it was because my esteemed former employer (SA Coaters) didn't supply protective gear for my ears when I was in the factory (which is still true - thanks Ralph Streitbürger and Willem Fourie) but this is probably exacerbated by the wax.
The waiting room appreciates my humour - I wrote marital status as "married (happily)" and they all found it rather charming. I asked for a discount for entertaining them, and they laughed again. I'm just that good.
So here I am to have my wax flushed out - it's gonna be wicked (get it? WICK-ed).
I'll let you all know how it goes on my personal blog (if anyone cares to read the details) @ http://brattex.blogspot.com/2009/05/wax-on-wax-off-wax-in-wax-out.html.

Youtube videos are online
For those that may be interested in checking out a youtube posting of a video I shot for the church (for my atheist friends, get over the religious aspect and check it out anyway, because IMHO it's entertaining and a job well done considering I shot it and edited it in two days under time pressure), go over to this post on my personal blog and follow the links!
Oh, and feel free to comment on the video or whatever too... there are a few "tricks of the trade" I had to incorporate, and some frustrating continuity errors, but no-one should notice them in one viewing. Also, I ran out of battery as we finished the last shot on the video, so how's that for timing?

A minor taste of justice
Arrived at work today, only to find some jerk (ND628-783) parked in my RESERVED parking at work. Just on principle, I am tempted to vomit all over the driver's seat and stage a miniature protest all day long chanting "hell no you must go, hell no you must go",
but I know that would be pointless, because I'm fairly certain this car belongs to some GEOLOGY field-trip participant, and I'd be wasting my breath for a week.
At any rate, I have done the next best thing - parked him in! Again, this may be pointless, but I feel a bit better about it (except that our car presently is uninsured since we are in that transitional insurance period). Oh, and what's more, the security guard on duty has now reacted by organising the car to be clamped.
Check out my moment of justice (I snapped my proud moment - do you think he'll get the message? I'm the white Honda Jazz at the fore)! At least now if the guy's around, he'll have to be inconvenienced to find me and wait for me. I pay good money for that parking bay!
UPDATE: The jerk was a guy called Neil from MATHEMATICS (some student); he had to ask my secretary to phone me to move my car. I took my sweet time and about twenty minutes later I came down to find the scallywag having a puff and waiting diligently for me to move. I said "howzit" and moved my car. He's lucky they hadn't clamped his wheel by then. Grrrrr.

My nickname has a lingering effect
Did anyone else pick it up? Oh come on - seriously... no clues? Not even a little idea?
Nothing?
Oh well... then check out my personal blog and read the article.
If you still don't figure it out, let me know... it's just almost like an ironic iconic coincidence really... no idea why it's iconic, or ironic, but there you have it. It was melodramatic.
